TSUKAMOTO OKIMASA

From Sesko's Sword Index: Okimasa (起正), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Tōkyō – „Okimasa saku“ (起正作), „Tsukamoto Okimasa saku“ (塚本起正作), „Tsukamoto Ikkansai Okimasa saku“ (塚本一貫斎起正作), civilian name „Tsukamoto Shinpachi“ (塚本新八), he was according to transmission a late successor of the lineage of Yamamura Masanobu (山村正信), he studied under Kasama Shigetsugu (笠間繁継) and married his daughter, he worked as rikugun-jumei-tōshō and got several prices, he died at the age of 43, he worked mostly in the style of Kiyomaro (清麿) and lived in Tōkyō´s Setagaya district (世田谷)

This sword was forged at the home of the Black Dragon Society leader Toyama Mitsuru's home in Tokyo, in 1938.  It is signed and dated with this information. The hada is ko-itame with ko-mokume mix.  Hamon is gunome midare with ashi.  There are a few hike kizu or surface scratches and a couple of small areas of light pitting, but no fatal flaws.  The sword comes in shirasaya and is accompanied by NBTHK papers.

Great opportunity to own a rarely seen work by such a famous smith.
