KOZUKA

HOSONO MASAMORI

H 04224.0

c. 1700

Hosono Masamori founded the Hosono school in Sagami Provence.  He later moved to Kyoto and was still working at age 70.  This beautiful Kozuka by Hososno Masamori is done in his signature style, depictions of groups of people portrayed in every day life. This particular piece depicts a Noriaibune or Ferry Boat full of passengers.  The matrials used are Rogin with gold and copper inlay.  The detail and the sheer amount of work to carve such an active scene on such a small scale is mind boggling.

This Kozuka is being offered for a short time only.
