KOSHIRAE

There a few generations of Kanewaku in Mino, The NTHK Shinsa Tean determined that this particular sword was made by: Noshu Seki kanewaku.

The following from Markus Sesko's book: Kanewaku (兼涌), TenMon (天文, 1532-1555), Mino – „Kanewaku“ (兼涌), he lived in Seki, his name is also read as „Kanewaki“.

This is a Hira-zukuri Tanto in very good condition. There are a few very light scuffs and surface scratches and one tiny nail dragger of a chip right above habaki (see photos).  Nothing which prevented it from receiving NTHK papers.  The sword exhibits Itame hada and gunome midare hamon.  There is lots of nie and nioi scattered throughout the hada and hamon. The nakago is ubu with two mekugi ana.

The koshirae is in very good condition.  The menuki are spiders on bamboo leaves.  The tsuba looks to be an Owari tsuba and is very nice on it's own.
