SHIRASAYA

A beautiful Yamashiro sword attributed to Hyuga Osumi no Jo Masahiro per the NTHK.  Mashiro is a highly rated smith, Hawley's rates him at 100 pts., and Fujishiro rates him at Jojosaku for the quality of work. This Masahiro was said to be the son of Kunimasa, another Yamashiro smith rated by Hawley's at 75 pts. Masahiro was also a student of the famous Horikawa Kunihiro.  He first received the title of "Osumi no Jo" and later received the title of "Osumi no Kami".  The sword is in very good polish with only some light Hjke kizu or suface scratches, a spot of very fine pitting and a tiny nail dragger near the habaki.   Otherwise, a stunning sword by a superior rated smith, who was a student of one of the most famous smith's of  Japan.   His works are said to emulate Kunihiro's works, especially his mei and there are works thought to be daisaku daimei works.
