Tying the Koshirae Bag.

While at first this may seem overwhelming, you will soon see that it is quite simple.

Sword Bag, Fusihimo or cord

Tying the Knot requires three components. The sword, the sword bag, and the Fusihimo or Cord.

First carefully place your sword into the bag. Slide it all the way in until the Kojiri reaches the bottom of the bag.

Next fold the flap over until it lays flush on the bag.

Next fold the top of the bag over  as shown above in a rolling motion. This should be snug.

Loop the cord around and begin winding it around the bag.

Wind it carefully keeping the cords straight and even until there are 4-6 inches remaing.

Take the two cords and pass them underneath the last two cords as shown above.

Pull through as shown approx 3-4 inches.

Separate the two cords which were just pulled through.

Lay the tassel's across the two cords which were seperated in the previous step.

With the two cords from either side, tie a simple overhand knot over the tassel cords.

Pull the ends of both loops and the tassel cords alternately until tight.
