| TSUBA T - 8 2.75" (6.98cm) x 2.56" (6.5cm) x 0.125 (0.32cm) Ana: 1.125" (2.85cm) x 0.625" (1.56cm) Beautiful iron mokko gata tsuba with shakudo and gold motif of Hanya. The plate itself is cut with fine amida rays emanating from the center, is slightly textured and has splashes of gold. The mimi is sukidashi. The hanya mask motif is done in shakudo and is highlighted by gold eyes and gold braided cord which wraps around onto the back. Hanya of course is a female demon of Japanese folk lore. She is represented with an evil face, horns and sharp fangs. She is portrayed in many Japanese legends. It is said she caught her husband cheating on her and turned into this evil monster in order to destroy him. Gives new meaning to the old adage, "nothing like the wrath of a woman scorned". $750 USD
