SHAKUDO MARU GATA

2.5" (6.35CM) X 2.5" (6.35CM) X 0.125" (0.312CM)

Straight out of the the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. The plate is of the highest quality shakudo as evidenced by it's deep rich black color. The obverse is done in an ishime finish and the motif is of vines and gourds with one flower blossom. The vines are shakudo, the leaves are done in grreen shibuichi and the gourds are gold. The reverse side features a boulder beside a stream. The boulder is done in copper/shakudo with gold and silver highlights. Around the mimi are pine needles and maple leaves done in gold nunome.

This is a fantastic top of the line tsuba with no losses, no flattened or rubbed areas, no dings. It is absolutely pristine.
