KANAMONO: JAPANESE TOBACCO POUCH CLASP

RABBITS & MOON in MIXED METALS

Superb Japanese tobacco pouch kanamono, or clasp finely crafted in takabori iroe (high relief mixed metal) shakudo & suaka ground depicting two rabbits (copper, silver w/gold eyes) beneath a silver moon. The scene is enhanced by the bamboo grass with silver highlighted foliage and signed to the lefthand side on the shakudo ground: YOSHIAKI.

The piece has a gold gilt edge (fukurin) with a shibuichi back plate

having (3) three silver pins. The center pin retains its original retaining washer (seppa) of two-piece construction, copper on one side and shibuichi on the other.

Excellent condition with almost no wear. 3” x 9/16”
