*DISCLAIMER: This is one of several consignments which have questionable mei. For those who do not understand what I mean, these are genuine Japanese swords, but the signatures may be forgeries. None of them have been too shinsa, and my opinion is based on my observations. They show no signs of nie/nioi and appear to be oil quenched Showato opposed to Gendaito. As such they are being priced at a fraction of what guaranteed Gendaito or even more so of Yasukuni-To would be sold for. They are sold “as is” with no returns. These would make good Iai blades or might fill the need for someone on a strict budget. Please do your own research and decide if this may be right for you.
Although I must assume this sword is gimei and non traditionally made, it is in excellent condition. It has no forging flaws, polish is excellent as the previous owner had it polished and put into a new Shirasaya.
This sword is most likely Seki-Showato. It would make an excellent Iaito if mounted.
It would make a nice sword for the collector on a budget
