F/K NAONOBU

DRAGONS

MEI: NAONOBU (KAO)

*NOTE: Look closely at the lip of the kashira, it is also signed. Very unusual.

KASHIRA: 1.375” X 0.75”

FUCHI: 1.5” X 0.875”

ANA: 1.125” X 0.375”

There were several noted makers using the Naonobu mei.

One was of the Echigo Oguri school, an offshoot of the Hamano line. He was a student of Yashinao, founder of the Oguri school.

Another was Yanagawa Naohisa who used the name Naonobu.

Lastly, Sano Naonobu. The Sano school founder was Naoyoshi who was an offshoot of the Yanagawa school via the Yokoya school. Naonobu was a student of Naoyoshi.

While I can not pinpoint the exact Naonobu, it is clear by the quality of the work that this was an above average maker.

This set would be a great one to mount on that katana project.

Set comes in a custom box and is accompanied by NBTHK Hozon Kanteisho.
