KOSHIRAE

Mumei Katana in koshirae. The nakago is ubu with one mekugi ana and the, yasurimei is sujikai. Habaki is on piece brass which resemble a two piece. Hada is muji or maybe ko-itame, it is hard to distinguish, Hamon is ko-midare based on suguha. Boshi is komaru. Condition is fair (see photos), there are numerous hikekizu (scratches), a few tiny nail draggers and some tarnish and light rust on the kissaki.

The koshirae is nice and it is mounted to display as a tachi. The saya is done in a wood grain pattern with horn kojiri, koiguchi, and kurigata. Tsuba is gumoko zogan. Menuki are gold dragons. Fuchi/Kashirae are shakudo nanako with dragons and gold highlights. The fuchi depicts a dragon on one side and a constellation on the other. See photos for more detail.
