Goto Tsunemasa (Chikasuke)

Menuki, Peafowl

NBTHK Hozon

Signed: Nanki Nakamura Chikasuke

Tsunemasa (H.10830) c. 1800-50 was a student of Goto Seijo (H.08073). His civilian name was Nakamura Chikasuke, also read Shinsuke.

Tsunemasa was known to work in both the Bushu Ito and Goto Seijo style.

The exquisite menuki depict male and female Peafowl utilizing soft metals including shakudo, shibuichi, suaka, and gold.  The attention to detail along with the quality of these menuki is incredible. Notice the expression in the faces, the fine lines in the feathers, etc.

Another great feature is the size of these menuki.  These are unusually large menuki (2.375” x 0.75”). Their size alone commands attention.

When considering all the great features of these menuki, size, quality, school only one word comes to mind: OUTSTANDING!

Menuki come with a custom fitted box and NBTHK Hozon papers
