OMORI DRAGON

Beautiful, big and bold to the point of being borderline gaudy. This huge tsuba is signed Teruhide with Kao. I have never seen a work by Teruhide signed without “Omori” as part of the mei. Therefore I felt the mei was questionable.  Yet, I still wanted it.

On the other hand, this is obviously Omori school work and whomever made this tsuba had phenomenal skill. If you disagree, look at the photos again!

A gentleman brought me this tsuba at one of the sword shows years ago. It was my intention to send it to Japan for shinsa to validate or invalidate the mei.

However, a couple of guys saw it and threw money at me until I caved. I would like to have known what the shinsa team would have said, but c’est la vie.  It went to live with another collector and I went home with a pocket full of cash.

I still miss it at times. 🙁
