______________________

Sadashige, real name Kawano Jutero (Shigetaro), born 1912. Sadashige was a student of Gassan Sadakatsu and became a Jumei Tosho (swordsmith) for the Osaka Rikugun Zohei or Osaka Army Arsenal in 1942.

This particular sword is published in John Slough’s, Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945, on page 153.

Additionally, Sadashige is listed in the Toko Taikan, Hawley’s, Nihonto Meikan and the Gendaito Meikan.

This gendaito boasts a nearly 27” nagasa.  When combined with the wide mihaba and thick kasane this sword feels massive in hand.

The hada is a tight ko-itame and the hamon is saka choji.  There is a ton of activity in this blade with abundant ji nie, ara nie, inazuma, etc. There is hakikake in the boshi seen as long strings of nie.

The sword is in polish and yet is still Ububa.

Comes in high grade shirasaya featuring buffalo horn hatome.

A beautiful, published, Star Stamped Gendaito for your collection.

Price: $4500 plus S/H
