The previous owner of this sword related that it was papered by the NTHK-NPO in Tampa a few years back but unfortunately the papers have apparently been lost as they were not in any paperwork sent. *I guarantee this sword will pass shinsa if submitted within one year of purchase date.
It is signed goji-mei or five-character mei. Studying the mei, my best guess is that this sword is indicative of a Dai-mei work with Masahiro. Some of the strokes are clearly done in the fashion of the student and some are done in the style of Masahiro.
But without more evidence or a shinsa opinion, it is difficult to say with certainty. Nor is it possible to provide more reference information. You can read more about the entire Tadayoshi school in generality in the references listed above.
This is a gorgeous ubu sword with a long nagasa of 29”. The sword exhibits the konuka hada and suguha the Tadayoshi school is famous for.
Polish is excellent.
Comes with shirasaya and a one-piece silver habaki.
